Battlefield 5 content continues to roll out months after the game’s initial launch, all part of developer EA DICE’s ongoing roadmap. Tides of War Chapter 3: Trial by Fire is scheduled to arrive on May 30, and includes an all-new map set seaside in sunny Greece. Like everything added to Battlefield 5, it’s being offered to owners free of charge.
The centerpiece of the update is a new map called Mercury, based on the German invasion of Greece and the Battle of Crete during World War II. Early videos show a sun-drenched landscape where players fight along idyllic beaches and navigate narrow mountain roads in armored vehicles. The full trailer is embedded above, and also available on YouTube.
There’s been a flurry of activity on Battlefield 5 leading up to this year’s E3 convention in Los Angeles. Firestorm, the game’s much-anticipated battle royale mode, was released in March. The next batch of Tides of War content, called Chapter 4: Defying the Odds, is expected in June. It will include new game modes and a new map, called Marita, which will also be set in Greece.
This year publisher Electronic Arts is eschewing its traditional E3 press conference. The fan-focused EA Play event is still taking place, and begins June 7 with a new style of presentation.
