Netflix’s Punisher series will go head-to-head with Justice League in November

Spread the word!

After months of teasing, Netflix has revealed The Punisher’s premiere date: Nov. 17. The same day Warner Bros.’ Justice League is released.

The reveal comes after a string of mysterious tweets, including a series of episode titles hidden in morse code. Netflix and Marvel haven’t said too much about their upcoming series — the sixth in their partnership — but did provide fans with a good look during San Diego Comic-Con in July.

The clip illustrated what Frank Castle, aka the Punisher, was capable of, why he was out for revenge and where the series would take place. Unlike Marvel and Netflix’s other series, including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Daredevil, The Punisher won’t be set in just New York City.

Netflix and Marvel were supposed to hold a panel for The Punisher during New York Comic Con earlier this month, but cancelled the event following a mass shooting in Las Vegas that left more than 50 people dead and hundreds injured. Both companies said it would be inappropriate to host the panel in light of the tragedy.

Despite this being the first season of the Punisher’s spinoff show, this isn’t his first appearance in Netflix’s Marvel Universe. He was also an important character in Daredevil’s second season.

Jon Bernthal will return to play the revengeful vigilante. The full series will be available to stream on Nov. 17.
