Nintendo will release a new update for its mobile runner, Super Mario Run, later this month that adds a new playable character, a new world and a new mode to the Android and iOS game.
Super Mario Run’s Sept. 29 update will add Daisy to the roster of runners, making her the seventh playable character (not counting Yoshi color variations). Nintendo is also adding a new world called World Star. That new world will feature nine new levels and will unlock after completing worlds one through six. World Star will feature new enemies and gameplay mechanics.
Additionally, Super Mario Run players will get access to a mode called Remix 10, which remixes and randomizes sections of existing levels for a new challenge. Here’s the official description, via the Apple App Store:
Remix 10 is a frenetic new mode in which you play a set of 10 super-short sections from Super Mario Run’s existing levels in quick succession. The stages are remixed with each attempt, and with rainbow-colored bonus medals strewn across these bite-sized stages, it’s a fresh challenge every time.
Remix 10 will give players a chance to collect new items to decorate their Mushroom Kingdom.
Nintendo is also adding the option to listen to your own music while playing Super Mario Run. If you do, Mario and friends will wear headphones while you play. Cute.
To promote the new update, Nintendo is temporarily dropping the price of Super Mario Run by 50 percent. The game will be on sale from Sept. 29 to Oct. 12.
