Overwatch NEWS: Blizzard game goes FREE on PS4, Xbox One and PC

Spread the word!
OVERWATCH fans can play the game for free on PS4, Xbox One and PC – but only for a limited time.

Overwatch developer Blizzard has announced plans to make the game free to play on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The only catch is that Overwatch will only be free next weekend as part of a Blizzard promotion.

From Friday, September 22 until Monday, September 26, fans can play the entire game for free on consoles and PC.

The Overwatch free weekend has an 7pm UK start time and ends at 6.59am UK time.

Fans will be able to try all of the maps, game modes and characters, and can even unlock Loot boxes.

Any progress will be transferred to the full game if they decide to purchase it.

The end of the free weekend will be followed by the release of the Junkertown map.

The new map will be available on all platforms on September 19. Overwatch content drops typically go live at either 6 or 7pm UK time, so expect the map be available from then.

“Junkertown is an Escort map located in the harsh and unforgiving Australian Outback,” the official description explains.

“Constructed from the remains of a destroyed omnium, it’s now the home to a band of lawless scavengers known as the Junkers, led by their cutthroat Queen.

“When they aren’t pillaging the omnium’s skeleton for anything of value, the Junkers blow off steam in the Scrapyard—a massive gladiatorial arena whose combatants fight for glory, riches…and to survive.”

It could also launch alongside a brand new update to popular healer Mercy.

As part of the Mercy update, the popular will only be able to resurrect characters on an individual basis. This will be a regular move with a cooldown period.

Her Ultimate ability – which currently revives all downed teammates – will be replaced with a move called Valkyrie.

Valkyrie boosts Mercy’s ability and grants her the power of flight.
