There are 23 new Pokémon available in Pokémon Go as of today, Niantic announced. An image accompanying the release teased several of the Hoenn region monsters now obtainable in the game — but players are left to guess which additional third-gen Pokémon not hinted at are also now available.
The following Pokémon are the ones we can confidently say are now in the wild in Pokémon Go:
- Whismur
- Loudred
- Exploud
- Aron
- Lairon
- Aggron
- Numel
- Camerupt
- Trapinch
- Vibrava
- Flygon
- Cacnea
- Cacturne
- Lunatone
- Solrock
These guys are either seen in the attached artwork or are part of those monsters’ evolutionary lines. That list is composed of just 15 of the 23 teased Pokémon, though, leaving the remaining eight up to guesswork.
It will take sometime for players to figure out the additional Pokémon available; they’ve got to scope out the new monsters out in the real world and see who else is new. But there are already some well-reasoned ideas of who’s left, thanks to members of The Silph Road community on Reddit.
The majority of these Pokémon are from the desert areas of the Hoenn region, where the third-generation of the series takes place. Among the additional ground, fire and rock types typically found in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire’s desert areas are the following:
- Nosepass
- Torkoal
- Baltoy
- Claydol
- Lileep
- Cradily
- Anortih
- Armaldo
That would bring us up to 23. Again, we won’t know for sure until either players or dataminers do the necessary investigation; we also won’t know if any of these guys are available under particular conditions. Stay vigilant in the meantime, players.
