Stardew Valley hits Switch later this week

Spread the word!

Beloved farming sim Stardew Valley will launch on Nintendo Switch on Oct. 5. After nearly a year of testing — and a switch from Wii U to, uh, Switch — the game will launch for $14.99 on the eShop.

“I’m very happy to see Stardew come to a Nintendo console … I grew up on Nintendo, after all!” wrote ConcernedApe, the one-man development team behind the 2016 smash hit, on the game’s official site. “This will not only be the first time Stardew Valley appears on a Nintendo platform, but also the first time Stardew will be on a portable system.”

Sickhead Games developed the port, which will be published by Chucklefish Games. Features like multiplayer will come to the Switch version of the game before other consoles, as the publisher previously announced; expect the big multiplayer update sometime next year.

We were big fans of Stardew Valley last year, when it launched on Windows PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It made Polygon’s top 10 Games of the Year list — so we’re pretty psyched to be able to finally play it on the go.
