The Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 trailer is here

Spread the word!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming back for a seventh season. On Sunday, at the Star Wars Celebration fan convention in Chicago, Disney rolled out an official trailer for the extended series, along with new details on the upcoming 12-episode arc. You can watch it in the archived video of the entire, hour-long panel (above) at the 52 minute, 21 second mark.

Anakin Skywalker and fan favorite Ahsoka Tano are back, along with two new characters who happen to be sisters in the industrial sector known as 1313. At least some of the new episodes will focus on a group of genetically modified clone troopers known as the “Bad Batch.” At the panel, Dee Bradley Baker, the voice of Commander Rex, compared them to the A-Team.

A major component of this new season will be the siege of Mandalore, the ancient homeworld of Jango Fett. The cartoon is expected to serve as a precursor to The Mandalorian, filling in some of the historical gaps that will help inform Disney’s upcoming live-action streaming series. The trailer concludes with a brief duel between Ahsoka and Darth Maul.

Fans at the convention were also treated to several clips from the upcoming season, including one touching sequence between Ahsoka and Rex.

The Clone Wars began airing in 2008 on Cartoon Network, before being canceled in 2013. From there, the show had a long and happy life on Netflix, where an abbreviated six-episode season was released in 2014. The seventh season was announced last summer.

The Clone Wars left Netflix earlier this month. Going forward, it will only be available on Disney’s streaming service, Disney Plus. The long-awaited service will launch on November 12, 2019. Disney Plus will include access to all three legacy trilogies at launch, along with The Force Awakens. Subscribers will also be able to watch The Mandalorian, Disney’s first live-action Star Wars television show.
