Wii and GameCube combined handheld is a childhood dream come true

Spread the word!

David Barscheski is a hardware modder that posted a video of his new handheld console, the Portable Wii GameCube Advance SP 2.0, to YouTube earlier this month. The handheld console emulates, you guessed it, the GameCube and Wii. It looks like a thick bottomed GameBoy Advance SP with a GameCube controller button scheme.

Watching the video, we see Barscheski boot up the GameCube part of the software and launch Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes briefly. It’s cool, but you know, in the era of the Switch, we’re used to taking console level games with us every where we go. It’s fun to see on a handheld, but not too far from anything we’ve experienced in games before.

Then he loads up the Nintendo Wii emulator and picks Wii Sports. He sets up a game of Wii Tennis and grabs a Wii Remote. He then proceeds to play Wii Tennis with full motion controls on the teeny tiny screen of the hardware. The game appears to be fully responsive, and he plays tennis easily.

You can check out the Portable Wii GameCube Advance SP 2.0 and David Barscheski’s other work on his YouTube channel.
